In this phase, Bodh began its partnership with the government in order to replicate its learning and impact the mainstream government system.

In this phase, Bodh began its partnership with the government in order to replicate its learning and impact the mainstream government system. Along with this, Bodh also decided that it can support many more like-minded organizations that are working for a similar cause by providing technical help ( teachers’ training, curriculum and material development, research, etc). The points below give a brief about Bodh’s work with respect to its partnerships and the other programmes where it was involved in direct interventions-

Bodhshalas

  • 7 Bodhshalas (common community schools) of Jaipur slums were sustained and 38 new Bodhshalas were created in far-to-reach rural hamlets of two blocks of Alwar district.
  • Pre-school component was added to the primary schools and many schools were extended to upper primary grades.

Partnership with government

  • Bodh supported the Janshala programme (2000-2005) of the government in the capacity of the key resource organization for starting new schools (Bodhshalas like) in the urban slums where a large section of children were out of school.200 new schools were created with communities support and were established in a duration of 5 years. They were later handed over to the government after they got stable.

  • From year 2005-2010, the 108 Janshala schools (Government schools) of Jaipur were provided further support in order to improve the quality being delivered.For this, Bodh provided a facilitator in each school who had already worked with Bodhshalas and could steer a positive change in these schools by providing handholding support to the government teachers.
  • Janpahal, a programme to empower communities and Panchayats ( Local self governing bodies) to collectively work towards improving the quality of government schools was implemented in the two blocks of Alwar district of Rajasthan.

Supporting other like-minded organizations

  • Bodh’s academic wing got formalized and was named Education Resource Centre (ERC). The department provided academic support to over 100 organizations and programmes (DPEP, CRY, CARE, NIDAAN, SARD, KAIVALYA Edu. FOUNDATION, AKDN, DIL SE, etc… ) of 13 states.

During this phase, Bodh got the National Recognition as a Resource Agency, that is evolved from real ground work and is committed to continuing its work on field.

Between 1994 and 2010, 20 lakh children were reached through 8000 teachers
